Stitched Textile & Mixed Media Art

Home gallery workshops students work & links

I work from home in the Rose Cottage Studio in rural Perthshire, Scotland. I enjoy hand and machine embroidery and most of my work ends up with a mixture of both.

I hand dye or print my own fabrics and like to layer lots of different textures; my favourite fabrics to work with are linen and silks. I love making fabric art books that combine dyed materials, printing and photo collage along with decorative stitch and handcrafted embellishment.

I attended Dundee College part time for four years to gain qualifications in City & Guilds Textiles - Design and Embroidery, Level 3 - Part 1 and Part 2 achieving a Distinction in each of the final 4 modules.

I'm a member of the LimeTArts Textile Art group, the Scottish Handcraft Circle, the 'Sew Piece~ful’ group, the PR QuiltArt Group, and 'Hanging by a Thread' groups.

Each year I participate in Perthshire Open Studios and can be found on the Glenfarg area trail. This is an annual exhibition and sale of work and I'm joined for the week by well known and accomplished Feltmaker and Embroiderer Mary-Ann Farmer
